Forex Signal Log Template: Record Calls Before You Judge Them

A reusable log structure for comparing forex signal publication, execution, risk and outcome without rewriting history after the fact.

Desk note

The publication row

Start with what the provider actually sent: pair, direction, entry or range, stop, target, timestamp, channel and any stated setup. Save the original message or link where the terms permit it. If a field is missing, write missing. Do not silently infer a stop from a chart.

This row makes the provider's claim stable. It is the part a later review should be able to inspect without relying on memory.

Desk note

The execution row

Record when you saw the message, the price you could obtain, spread, order type and whether you acted. If you skipped or entered late, say so. A provider outcome and a personal outcome can both be true, but they are not the same row.

For copy or managed workflows, add source price, follower price, fee, delay and rejected order. The extra fields are the cost of comparing an automated path honestly.

Desk note

The outcome row

Score the call using the rule you wrote before entry. Record whether the initial stop or a timestamped update was used, whether targets were partial, and the final result in risk units if that is available. Avoid turning a pips number into a universal result when account size and leverage are unknown.

Keep the losing rows. A record with only winners is an advertisement, regardless of how polished the spreadsheet looks.

Desk note

The review row

  • Was the message complete enough to act on?
  • Was it delivered during the promised session?
  • Could another reader score it the same way?
  • Did execution change the result materially?
  • Would the workflow fit next month without forcing trades?

After enough logged calls, you can judge clarity and fit. You still cannot promise a future return, which is exactly why the log is more useful than a testimonial.

Completed fictional log row

Original FX-001 has a dated source, named pair, declared 0.0001 increment, a range-entry rule and a stated expiry. The subscriber observation is late, so its actionable state is expired; no order is recorded. The row remains in the expected inventory. A later target announcement cannot convert it into a follower win.

A second row has an actual entry, partial exit and open remainder. Give each leg a quantity and operation identifier, leaving the residual mark under a dated convention. A source message ID alone cannot represent all those economic events.

Keep correction history rather than overwriting it

Retain original values and a separate amendment with observation time and reason. Missing fields stay null or explicitly unknown. A template should not fill blank quantities with one lot or missing costs with zero just to make a summary chart calculate.

An exported worksheet is a reader-entered record, not proof of source authenticity. Preserve the actual originals and operation records separately. The static workbench can organise these notes without requesting private keys, broker access or a room subscription.
