Forex declared pip-value calculator
Base units, quote increment and a declared conversion rate. No live prices.
The complete dimensional calculation
Quote-currency pip value equals the declared base quantity multiplied by the declared pip increment. Account-currency pip value multiplies that by account units per one quote-currency unit. Gross movement then multiplies by the signed number of pips. All four inputs are required, including a zero movement when that is the actual declared assumption.
This is a simplified linear price-change example. It is not a futures, option or arbitrary CFD contract pricer. A lot label is not an input: obtain the actual base quantity and increment from the contract specification. The tool fetches no quote and cannot certify that its quantity is currently tradable.
Completed fictional conversion case
The example uses 10,000 base units, a 0.0001 increment, a declared conversion of 0.8 account units per quote unit and +25 pips. Quote pip value is 1, account pip value is 0.8 and gross account movement is 20. Changing the movement to -25 produces -20 under the same assumptions.
A JPY illustration can instead use a declared increment of 0.01 and conversion of 0.0067: at 10,000 units the account pip value is 0.67. These rates are invented classroom inputs, not current market observations. Historical cash reproduction requires the actual conversion events, costs and account record.
Do not interpret gross as net or account return
The result contains no commission, financing, membership cost or unresolved execution difference. Actual-fill prices can embed spread; reference prices may not. Keep that boundary in a separate ledger rather than treating every numerical gross outcome as captured cash.
A return percentage also requires the account-capital and cash-flow convention. This tool neither supplies them nor picks a suitable risk amount. A declared amount that fits its input bounds can still be economically unsuitable or incompatible with the broker contract.
Exports preserve assumptions, not authenticity
The downloaded JSON or CSV records the inputs, units, outputs and scope. Editing an assumption invalidates the displayed result until recalculation. Reset clears the current page, not an exported file. Entries are not sent by the page scripts or saved to browser storage.
Positive quantity, positive increment and positive conversion are required. Signed movement may be zero or negative. Inputs and output magnitude have explicit bounds; blank, nonfinite or oversized values remain invalid instead of silently becoming zero. Display rounding leaves the unrounded result in the export.
